He's 4 years old, and while my husband complained that the car didn't turn, this was not an issue for the 4 year old because he couldn't have handled turning anyway. For the age of child this car is for, it's terrific to run. The remote is simple and easy to work, while the car itself is fun to watch as it flips every time you switch from one large button on the remote to the other.I put batteries in the car before I wrapped it, and had a great deal of trouble getting the bottom battery of each side into the slot. There was no spring to push on to slide the battery into place so I feel sorry for my brother who will have to do this twice every time the batteries need changing (it takes 6 AA batteries). There is an off/on switch on the car which might be a problem since kids are not inclined to remember such things. The car should have a five minute timer that shuts off the car if it's not in use. This one drives a good 20 or 30 feet and disappears around corners, and you still hear it driving around in a closet somewhere (If you're pushing buttons). The antenna is over a foot long, but wrapped in plastic and quasi-rigid almost floppy, so it's very safe and not breakable to our knowledge.The car itself is fast and fun, but you'll want your kid to stand beside it or sit up on a chair if they're just learning, as they may drive it into their own feet for awhile. The wheels are soft and no harm there, but the car shell itself is a hard plastic. There are no edges anywhere, but bashing your feet is something to look out for. Walls and such are fine since the wheels hit the wall first. The car is fast and strong enough to push doors closed. It goes frontwards and backwards with a push of the left or right side of the button... One of the wheels broke off after it had an unfortunate trip down the stairs. I superglued it and have had no problems since. You have to be sure to turn the car off when you are done using it (ours have a switch), or it sucks batteries. Super-fun to drive into a wall and watch it flip over and keep going. The 12 and 9 year olds even play with it, still! Happy driving! |

It is huge! It looks so small on T.V., but in real life it's huge. I got this at Wal-Mart, but I had to order the battery separately through Amazon. It becomes a very expenisive item when every thing is said and done. My son is seven, and loves this toy. So far, it seems very durable, and runs very well. The battery seems to last until he's done playing for the day. When you first buy the battery it has to charge for six hours prior to use, so my advice is to charge the battery way before even giving this to your child! It is a pretty cool toy that turns men into boys too. For the price of this toy, I hope that it lasts for a long while. Only time will tell. It is easy to use by children, but I wouldn't recommend this to kids under six, for electrical shock reasons, and the fact that when you operate this toy, the tail whips around, and could strike someone on the leg and hurt them. It whips quickly, so you have to pay attention, it hurts... I purchased this review unit myself, and once I got it home realized I misread the packaging - to me it seemed that you could purchase an extra battery pack if you wanted to, but it was not 100% crystal clear that I needed to buy one of these separately. Some people are going to be turned off when they realize that they need to purchase a $30 battery for a toy they already spent $60 for - trust me when I realized I had to go back to the store I was right there with ya. How can you tell a child who has been allowed to ask for this toy for Birthday or Christmas that you are not getting it anyways since the price is way above the budget??
